Who needs this qualification?

Those with supervisory duties in a food handling environment, for example:

one-to-one or on-the-job instructors and trainers
customer complaints investigators
quality assurance staff
buyers and sales staff

Subjects covered

bacteriology, physical, chemical and microbial contamination of food and its prevention
food storage, temperature control and food preservation
design and construction of food premises and equipment
cleaning and disinfection, pest control and personal hygiene
supervisory management

Outcomes

On completing this qualification candidates will be able to:

play an active part in monitoring food hygiene standards and be able to assist in hazard analysis programmes
be involved in training activities, especially on-the-job training
be equipped to effectively supervise food handlers on hygiene issues

Assessment: Multiple-choice examination

QCA Accredited: Yes

Prerequisite:
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering qualification or equivalent knowledge. Candidates for the qualification will need to have an analytical approach to food hygiene and will be encouraged to demonstrate how they can influence others and positively encourage good standards.
