The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) clearly outlines an employer's obligations with regard to First Aid in the Workplace via the Health & Safety at Work (First Aid) Act 1981. This course complies with all the obligations and qualifies the successful individual as the First Aider at Work. Upon successful completion, a certificate valid for three years will be awarded.

The course is suitable for those staff who wish to obtain a First Aid At Work certificate and become designated First Aiders in their workplace.

Assessing the casualty
CPR
Unconsciousness
Wounds and Bleeding
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
Burns and scalds
Eye injuries
Shock
Poisoning
Casualties overcome by gas or fumes
Recognition and treatment of illness
Transportation of casualties

Course Objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

Act safely, promptly and effectively during emergencies at work
Use first aid equipment
Understand employer duties and legislation
Maintain first aid records
Recognise the importance of personal hygiene in first aid procedures

Assessment

The course is assessed via a practical assessment. If successful the delegate will receive a First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for three years.
